My name is Kristin Uhler Flory and I love to race cars.  I have been racing since 1998 and I just can’t seem to get enough.  My most exciting moment so far was winning the championship in the Limited Late Model Division at Lakeville Speedway in 2003.  In seven years I have been fortunate enough to win at least one race per year.  The first race I won during my first year of racing was very exciting because most of the fans didn’t realize, I was a girl.  I had long hair at the time and when I won the race, pulled into victory lane and took my helmet off, my hair went tumbling down my shoulders and the fans went nuts.  Somebody told be afterwords that they thought my dad was racing my car.  My mom told me that she could hear the fans clapping and screaming from the pit side, which was very unusual.

Racing is hard work but I really enjoy it.  This past year in 2005, I raced at Lakeville Speedway on Friday nights and ended up, 2nd in points.  Also, my husband and I together with family and friends went on the road and raced at nine different tracks.  That was a lot of work and a lot of fun.  My husband has a Super Late Model Race Car that he races while I raced a Limited Late Model.  Basically, the difference between his car and my car is the engine.  He has an all aluminum engine where I was racing an all steel block engine.  His car and engine were set up to race with the Super Late Model divisions, where my car and engine was set up to race at Lakeville Speedway, but I still raced anyway.  I did win a B main at KC Raceway one Saturday Night which was a lot of fun.  My husband ended up 2nd in points, in the 2005 season at KC Raceway, which was also a lot of fun. Some of the tracks we visited in 2005 were East Bay Raceway in Florida for a week, Hagerstown Speedway in Maryland, KC Speedway in Chillicothe, OH, Florence Speedway in Kentucky, Atomic Speedway in Tennessee, Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, OH, Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH, and Tyler County Speedway in West Virginia.  When we went to East Bay Raceway in Florida, we raced for six nights straight and that is harder than it sounds.  Up here, we race on the weekends and we have all week to fix the cars.  Down in Florida, we raced six nights in a row and we had the next day to get both cars ready to race for that evening.  That was a lot of work, but also a lot of fun.  We lucked out in Florida and parked beside a car that had Carl Edwards lined up to drive one of the six nights.  Carl Edwards now drives the #99 Nextel cup car.  I got to talk with Mr. Edwards for a few minutes and realized that he is just like the rest of us, he loves racing...  See you at the races.
